Guaranteed File Compatibility & Industry Standards

Jacket back digitizing converts your artwork into a large-format stitch file for the back panel of varsity jackets, bombers, work jackets, softshells and leather. Jacket back designs span 10 to 14 inches, a distance where long stitches, improper density and missing pull compensation cause visible production failures. Every jacket back file we produce is hand-planned in Wilcom V9 and E2 with long-stitch compensation, fabric-specific underlay and correct density for your specific jacket material.
Every cap file is built stitch by stitch in Wilcom V9 and E2 by one of our 38 expert digitizers. No auto-digitizing software, no auto fonts. Every stitch angle, underlay type and density is set manually.
Cap fabric requires different underlay and density settings than flat garments. We configure each file for your specific cap type and fabric, not a generic setting that applies to all caps.
DST for Tajima, PES for Brother, JEF for Janome, VP3 for Husqvarna Viking and every other major format. All included in your order price at no extra charge.
Proper jump stitch planning and trim sequencing prevents thread nesting on the underside of your cap and reduces trimming time in production. Every thread route is planned manually for clean results.
Going from a left chest to a jacket back isn't just scaling up. It's a completely different technical challenge.
Under 4 inches: straightforward
8–12 inches: requires full technical planning
A full jacket back design safely fits within 10 to 12 inches wide by 10 to 12 inches tall on most adult jackets. But this varies significantly by jacket style and brand. A rigid denim jacket allows much larger designs than a light bomber. Always confirm garment dimensions before finalising.
💡 Always specify the jacket brand, style, and fabric weight when ordering. A 12-inch design on a Carhartt J97 is completely different from the same design on a Port Authority J790.

✗ Avoid this:
On a 40,000-stitch jacket back, the order elements are stitched determines whether the design registers correctly. Poor sequencing causes misalignment, colour bleed, and thread breaks from tension build-up over large stitched areas.
💡 We always sequence jacket back files from the centre outward and from background fills to foreground details, standard in professional digitizing and what auto-software consistently gets wrong.

✗ Avoid this:
| Factor | Auto-Digitized | Sassy Digitizing | Production Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stitch sequence | Random or auto-generated | Manually planned layer by layer | No registration drift |
| Pull compensation | Generic 0.2mm | Fabric and size-specific | No puckering on large fills |
| Underlay type | Basic run stitch only | Heavy zigzag + full edge run | Design sits flat across full garment |
| Colour sequencing | Not optimised | Thread changes minimised | Faster production, fewer stops |
| Jump stitches | Excessive, visible on garment | Manually minimised | Less trimming, cleaner result |

Yes. Leather, canvas, denim, nylon, wool, and softshell each require different stitch density, underlay, and pull-compensation settings. Leather needs lower density to prevent perforation damage, while canvas and denim handle full density well. Specify your jacket material when ordering and we configure the file manually in Wilcom V9 and E2 for clean, durable embroidery on that specific fabric.
Simple jacket back designs are delivered in 2 to 4 hours on standard turnaround. Complex large-format designs with stitch counts above 60,000 typically take 4 to 8 hours on standard service. Rush delivery in 1 to 2 hours is available at no extra cost on simple designs; note RUSH on your order and your file is prioritised in the queue.
Yes. Materials like nylon, canvas, leather, wool, denim, and softshell all require different digitizing settings to prevent puckering, registration shift, and thread breaks. Providing the correct material on your order lets our digitizers configure stitch density, underlay type, and pull compensation correctly the first time. If you are unsure, just describe the jacket and we will identify the fabric.
Standard jacket back designs are up to 12 inches wide by 10 inches tall, which fits most adult jacket sizes from M to XXL. We recommend leaving at least 1 inch of clearance from seams and yokes for clean stitching. Yoke-only designs are typically 10 inches wide by 4 inches tall. Larger custom sizes are possible; confirm dimensions when ordering.
